It has been slightly over 2 weeks since CBC Shelter (a safe, sound sleeping place for rough sleepers) turned operational. At present, we have 11 stayers within our premises, each in a room of their own on level 4 of CBC. A duty shelter IC (a pastor) and two volunteer hosts check in with them and bring meals to them daily. Most of the stayers have been cordial and grateful to us for allowing them to stay within our premises. A big “thank you” to everyone who contributed either financially or in-kind to make this endeavour possible.
The shelter will continue to operate till 1 June or whenever “circuit breaker” ends. Please continue to pray for the stayers to adjust to the confines and rules of the CBC shelter and live in harmony with one another. Please pray for those who are out of work to be able to find decent jobs and longer term housing arrangements beyond this period. Finally, please pray that the Shelter ICs, the hosts and those working behind the scenes will be given wisdom, sensitivity and protection as they handle the day-to-day operations to keep this shelter running. Finally, please pray that the Shelter ICs, the hosts and those working behind the scenes will be given wisdom, sensitivity and protection as they handle the day-to-day operations to keep this shelter running, as well as opportunities for meaningful interaction with the stayers.
